Thievery Corporation was formed in the summer of 1995 at Washington D.C.'s Eighteenth Street Lounge. Their music style mixes elements of dub, acid jazz, reggae, Indian classical, Middle Eastern, and Brazilian (such as bossa nova). based recording artist and DJ duo consisting of Rob Garza, Eric Hilton, and their supporting artists, Frank 'Booty Lock' Mitchell, Jeff Franca and Ashish Vyas. Thievery Corporation is a Washington, D.C. That record is already considered by most to be a classic of the new electronic era. After several early 12" singles, Thievery Corporation released Sounds From the Thievery Hi-Fi on ESL Music. Weeks later, in a home studio, they began to work on the music that would launch Thievery Corporation. They were introduced by a mutual friend and proceeded to discuss their admiration for the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim and the 60's bossa sound.
